LIONEL'S STORY

OUR FOUNDATION

We believe in the Holy Trinity, God the Creator of heaven and earth, Jesus Christ the begotten Son of God our Lord and Savior, and the Holy Spirit the giver of life who proceeds from the Father and the Son. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

OUR
APPROACH

We integrate the traditional 12-step Recovery Program and the Word of God. This approach addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of addiction, providing a comprehensive path to recovery.

OUR
COMMITMENT

Our primary focus is helping others find recovery from their alcohol and drug addictions, guiding them toward a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. Through this journey, individuals will:

1. Find freedom from addiction and its destructive patterns.

2. Experience the love and forgiveness of Christ.

3. Develop a stronger faith and spiritual foundation.

4. Cultivate a meaningful relationship with God and others.

5. Become equipped to serve and support others in their recovery journey.

SCRIPTURE

Jesus tells us in John 10:10...

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

God's design was for us to live life in fullness and in complete freedom.

OUR PURPOSE

Our primary focus is helping others find recovery from their alcohol and drug addictions, guiding them toward a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • We believe in the virgin birth and that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life and died for our sins. His life was the perfect sacrifice for the atonement of our sins.

THE 12 STEPS OF RECOVERY, SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLES, AND SUPPORTING SCRIPTURE
  • “We admitted we were powerless over alcohol — that our lives had become unmanageable.”

And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t.

    Romans 7:18

  • “Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.”

Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.

    Hebrews 11:1

  • “Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.”

...throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.

    Ephesians 4:22-24

  • “Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.”

19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. 22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

    Galatians 5:19-23

  • “Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.”

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

    James 5:16

  • “We're entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.”

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

    Psalm 139:23-24

  • “Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.”

7 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. 9 “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? 10 Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! 11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. 12 “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.

     Matthew 7:7-12

  • “Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.”

20 If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? 21 And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.

    1 John 4:20-21

  • “Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.”

“So if you are presenting a sacrifice[a] at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, 24 leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.

    Matthew 5:23-24

  • “Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.”

7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

    James 4:7-8

  • “Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.”

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.

    Colossians 3:1-2

  • “Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.”

3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.

    2 Corinthians 1:3-4

How long have you attended Elevate?

December of 2023

My addiction started with Crystal Meth at the age of 13. I struggled with drugs and alcohol all throughout high-school. I found out I was going to be a father at the age of 19 and I decided to get clean. I maintained by sobriety until I was 21. I started drinking and doing drugs again, which led to an 11 year binge. A friend overdosed and I decided to get clean again at the age of 32. I found recovery and my life did get better, but I noticed my life began to decline again entering my 6th year of sobriety. I couldnt figure it out, I lacked purpose and started to go through depression. My life changed in January 2024 when I surrendered to God. Shortly after, I gave my life to Christ. I now have purpose and it brings joy into my life to be able to help others find recovery and their identity in Christ through our new ministy called Elevate Recovery!

April of 2024

At a very young age I was introduced to drugs & alcohol. I was 13 when I first smoked weed and as the years went by I kept experimenting with new things. I nearly lost my life after overdosing on drugs and flat lining for 5 minutes at a school field trip. I would’ve thought after almost dying this would stop me from doing drugs, but unfortunately it didn’t. I continued popping pills, drinking, and smoking, which became a lot easier to obtain as I got older. It wasn’t until this year I decided to fully surrender and give my life to Christ. The Lord peeled off the scales from my eyes as I was blinded by what the world. He saved me when I couldn’t find a way out. I pray through Elevate Recovery others may find Jesus and seek recovery through Him.

I developed an addiction to weed when I was in High School. I was curious, some friends were doing it so I wanted to see what it was like. I thought I would be able to control it, but I couldn’t. I hurt my family with pushing them away. Because of all the lies and anger I showed them, I lost their trust. I was also hurting myself physically, emotionally and spiritually. It wasn’t until April of 2022, I had three seizures in one day and it all was due to the drugs. I had an abnormality in my heart and I thought I was going to die. That experience made me open my eyes and it caused me stop smoking. We started going to Elevate church where I reconciled with God. Today I get to serve at our church. God has completely changed my perspective and I can honestly say I've been transformed. I’m happier than I have ever been and that it’s all thanks to God.

September of 2024

I was introduced to the taste of an altered experience with drugs at the age of 22 in October of 2020. What started out as a “one time” experience, slowly, but surely, began to consume who I was. Fast forward to late in the year of 2022, I sustained an injury. Leaving me with lots of free time, which lead to more abuse of the drug. My life as I knew it quickly started to spiral downhill face first towards rock bottom. Then, it ALL changed. I was extended an invitation to Elevate Church in September of 2024. By the mercy and grace of our Savior, I was delivered from my burdens. To me, Elevate Recovery is about sharing our testimonies with other souls in need of a breakthrough that I know I DESPERATELY needed.

I was always a free spirit that never cared about consequences. My addiction started small with alcohol and weed. I managed to not let it affect my job and my life so I didn't care to stop. Unexpectedly the harder drugs were forced on me and I ended up loving how it made me feel because it allowed me to escape life so I could avoid all problems. My life began to spiral and I knew that I didn't want to go down that path. At that time, I didnt even realize God was trying to save me by leading me to A.A. and to Elevate church. Our Lord saved me, now im blessed with a new path and outlook in Life. It brings me joy to call the people He placed into my life my friends and if we can save just one person through Elevate Recovery, it will make it all worth it.
